Multiple Sclerosis: A Comprehensive Care Approach

Multiple sclerosis (MS) is a chronic, autoimmune disorder in which the body’s immune system attacks the protective covering (myelin) of nerve fibers in the central nervous system. This disruption interferes with the communication between the brain and the rest of the body, leading to a wide range of symptoms. The course of MS can be unpredictable, with periods of symptom flare-ups followed by remission.

Symptoms of MS can vary widely from person to person but often include fatigue, difficulty walking, muscle weakness, vision problems, numbness or tingling, and issues with balance or coordination. In more severe cases, MS can lead to cognitive impairments and mobility loss.

Dr. Nitika Mahajan is well-versed in diagnosing and managing multiple sclerosis. She uses diagnostic tools such as MRI scans, lumbar punctures, and blood tests to confirm the diagnosis and assess the extent of nerve damage. Dr. Mahajan adopts a patient-centered approach, working closely with her patients to monitor their condition and adjust treatment as needed. By providing personalized care and addressing the unique needs of each patient, she helps individuals with MS live fulfilling lives despite the challenges posed by the disease.
